What is breast augmentation

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is designed to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. This is typically achieved by inserting implants filled with silicone gel. The procedure can also involve fat transfer from another part of the body. The goal is to improve breast volume, symmetry, and overall appearance, often boosting the patient's confidence and body image.

Is breast augmentation for me?

Breast augmentation may be suitable for you if you want to enhance the size and shape of your breasts for aesthetic reasons, correct asymmetry, or address conditions like breast hypoplasia (tuberous breast).

If you have any of these symptoms, this operation is indeed for you.

During the procedure

During breast augmentation, an incision is usually made under the breast (inframammary). Through this incision, a pocket is created either under the pectoral muscle or directly behind the breast tissue, depending on the patient. The chosen implants are then inserted into the pockets. Once the implants are positioned correctly, the incisions are closed with sutures, and dressings are applied. Post-operative instructions are provided to ensure proper healing and optimal results.

After breast augmentation

  • Rest and Elevation: Rest and keep your upper body elevated to reduce swelling.

  • Medication: Take prescribed pain relievers and antibiotics as directed.

  • Wound Care: Keep the incision sites clean and dry.

  • Avoid Strenuous Activities: Refrain from heavy lifting and vigorous exercise for 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Supportive Garments: Wear a supportive bra for 4 to 6 weeks to help with healing and positioning of the implants.

  • Sutures: Usually internal and absorbable
