What are dermal fillers

Dermal filler treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves injecting gel-like substances under the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Common areas treated with dermal fillers include the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, and under-eye areas. The fillers are typically made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin, which helps to hydrate and add volume. The effects are immediate and can last from six months to two years, depending on the type of filler used and the area treated.

Are dermal fillers for me?

Dermal fillers may be suitable for you if you are looking to restore lost facial volume, smooth out lines and wrinkles, or enhance your facial contours without undergoing surgery. Ideal candidates are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and seek immediate results with minimal downtime. Commonly treated areas include the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, and under-eye areas.

During the procedure

During a dermal filler treatment, the procedure begins with the cleansing of the target areas. A topical numbing agent may be applied to minimize discomfort. Using a fine needle or cannula, the filler is then injected into the skin at specific points to add volume, smooth lines, or enhance contours. The number and location of injections depend on the treatment goals. The entire process typically takes 15 to 60 minutes. After the injections, the areas may be gently massaged to ensure even distribution. There is minimal downtime, allowing you to resume most activities immediately.

After Dermal Fillers

  • Avoid Touching the Area: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 24 hours.

  • Stay Upright: Avoid lying down for a few hours after the procedure.

  • Skip Exercise: Avoid vigorous exercise and excessive sun or heat exposure for 24-48 hours.

  • Use Ice Packs: Apply ice packs to reduce swelling and discomfort.

  • Follow-Up: Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor progress.
