Upper Eyelid Surgery

What is upper blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty is surgery of the upper eyelid that involves removing excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper eyelids.

Is a blepharoplasty for me?

This procedure is done to improve the appearance of droopy or sagging eyelids, which can make a person look older or tired. It can also help improve vision in cases where the drooping skin interferes with sight. Essentially, it's a way to make the eyes look more youthful and open by tightening the area around them.

If you have any of these symptoms, this operation is indeed for you.

During the procedure

The upper blepharoplasty will begin by gently administering local anesthesia to numb the area of the upper eyelid. A small incision will be made with precision along the natural crease of the upper eyelid, ensuring minimal visible scarring. The excess skin, muscle, and fat contributing to the drooping appearance will be carefully removed. Once the adjustments are satisfactory, the incision will be meticulously closed with fine stitches, concealed within the eyelid's crease to enhance the eyelid's natural, youthful contour.

After blepharoplasty

  • Rest and Elevation: Keep your head elevated to reduce swelling.

  • Cold Compresses: Use ice packs for the first 48 hours.

  • Avoid Straining: Limit reading, TV, and screen time.

  • Cleanliness: Keep the incision area clean and dry.

  • No Heavy Lifting: Avoid strenuous activities for two weeks.

  • Sutures: removed in one week
